Training on Network Monitoring and Management at NM-AIST

Following continuous requests from member institutions,  TERNET organized a training on Network Monitoring and Management from 21st to 25th October 2019. The training was hosted by Nelson Mandela ?African Institute of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in Arusha. For five productive days the training focused on a combination of theory and hands-on practice in network monitoring and management. The main topics were 

1. Introduction to network monitoring and management
2. Linux boot camp
3. Cisco & IOS configuration basics
4. Simple Network Monitoring Protocol (SNMP)
5. Installation, configuration and understanding output of network monitoring and management tools
6. Network documentation and Logs management 

The training aimed to equip the system and network engineers with skills and tools for monitoring network availability, network performance and management. We appreciate our partners Network Startup Resource Center (NSRC) for providing us with skills and contents for the training. Upon completion, trainers were able to review the network infrastructure of NM-AIST and provide documented recommendations for improvement.
