As member of the Ubuntunet Alliance (UA), every year TERNET gets an opportunity to send engineers for a week-long training and conference that is hosted by UA in collaboration with member NRENs. In October 2019 TERNET sent two engineers to Antananarivo, Madagascar for the training that was co-organized by UA and iRENALA, the NREN of Madagascar.
The training was facilitated by trainers from the Network Start-Up Resource Center (NSRC) in collaboration with UA. The main objective of the training was to provide an overview of type of tools and their functionality that are useful to monitor the health of NREN circuits, gather data over time for future planning, rspond to and detect issues as they arise using the tools taught and maintain backups of network configurations.
The training involved personnel working at NREN or Regional REN NOCs who can provide practical demonstrations of the tools in use in a real-working environment.
